The Kind is Naked

Catalogue includes works from the corresponding exhibition hosted at MOMus–Museum of Contemporary Art.

Based on the premise that the most capable observers of the world are either painters/artists or scientists, the exhibition places at its center the phrase from Andersen’s famous fairy tale, recognizing as its protagonists the acclaimed painters Vasilis Vasilakakis, Vangelis Gokas, and Ilias Papailiakis.

In an era that obsessively worships the image while simultaneously rushing past it, these three painters choose to observe the world in stillness—not as an act of resistance, but out of respect for the image.

The three artists present their works not with the intention of comparison, but in order to continue an artistic dialogue, allowing textures, deep shadows, and colors to converse.

Ultimately, the exhibition seeks to present a rare artistic generation and friendship between three creators, aiming to highlight the power of the image to fundamentally deconstruct reality.
