In the 1910s he was an active participant in the avant-garde scene and developed his own artistic movement\u2014<\/span><span class=\"citation-0 citation-1 citation-2\">Dynamocolor<\/span><span class=\"citation-0 citation-1 citation-2 citation-end-2\">\u2014based on bringing together the principles of Cubism and the formal language of the icon. In<\/span><span class=\"citation-0 citation-1 citation-end-1\"> 1919 Gritchenko left Moscow, spent two years in Constantinople, and from 1921 on lived and worked in France.
