Today, the future is increasingly seen as a critical concept. Even the near future, despite digital acceleration, remains difficult to predict and seems impossible to fully grasp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"1368\">In the southern Mediterranean, civil societies claim and embody the future despite the widespread resistance they encounter, while in Central Europe, the future appears more as a source of concern than a driver of action. However, the ability to speculate, articulate intentions, expectations, and fears, and then use them as a foundation for action is what keeps societies united.
