It includes works from the corresponding exhibition hosted at the MOMus-Thessaloniki Museum of Photography. The main exhibition and catalogue of Photobiennale 2023 “The Spectre of the People” explores the many different aspects of populism through photography and video. These include questions such as who the “people” are, whether they (collectively) actually exist (and, if so, how, when and for how long), whether they can be visually captured, whether they are a source of hope or terror, how they are seen as one in the faces of their would-be leaders, and how they congregate and behave in political protests. The artists presented here approach these issues in distinctly different, sometimes overlapping, ways: some document populist leaders and their followers and those who, conversely, emerge as enemies to popular or populist movements; some contribute satirical views of the ridiculousness displayed by authoritarian leaders and the political delirium they engender; others do performances of populism or activist work in solidarity with protest movements; others do conceptual works on populism, and the profound economic crisis from which it gained strength.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1990,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"product_brand":[],"product_cat":[194,37],"product_tag":[],"class_list":["post-2472","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-photography-publications","product_cat-publications","first","instock","purchasable","product-type-simple"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/2472","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1990"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2472"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_brand","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_brand?post=2472"},{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=2472"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.momus.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=2472"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
